Pet Palooza '09

Another successful Maddie's Fund project - Pet Palooza '09 - was held on Saturday, June 6, at the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama. Of course, Maddie was there to welcome everyone.

Mobile Bay Dog Training Club members were there to entertain the crowd and introduce them to all the fun we have with our dogs. Agility, obedience and tricks were performed to the delight of the crowd and especially the kids. The kids got to get in on the fun, too, by getting to run the dogs over the course, or just to get some hugs and photo time in.

The dogs were more than happy to cooperate and everyone loves hugs!

Tons of volunteers were out in force to help care for the animals and to talk with prospective new owners...........

.....and to give some loving to sweet puppies.....

Maddie wowed the crowd with fantastic agility skills......

.... like jumping and weave poles!

.....but, best of all, some families took home new best friends....

There were so many wonderful photos, we've been putting them in a slide show for everyone to enjoy:

Five Flags Agility Match

Saturday, April 25, several MBDTC members ventured over to Pensacola to the Five Flags Agility match at Fly Over Farm. Present were Lisa with Cinnie and Kier, Roberta and Jeff with Freccia, Susan and Summer Time, Emily and her mom with Maggie, and Sandra with Guy.

It was a hot day, but we came prepared! We pitched the tent at Sandra's van and called it Headquarters for the day.

Giving a wave are Roberta, Susan and Lisa....Freccia (in the crate) is saying "Hi!", too.

Here's our ringside HQ - a small strip of shade anchored by Emily and her mom. Pictured are Summer, Lisa, Susan, Emily, Maggie and Emily's mom.

Freccia said she was ready to run....she was fast, not so accurate, but showed flashes of brilliance!

Here's our intrepid "video" man, Jeff, stationed ringside to do the filming. Er, you won't see the runs because...as we said, we came ready to run, but not always the right directions, but we were all happy with our progress.

Summer Time triumphed over the teeter and the dog walk - Hip, hip, hooray!

Ms Maggie, aka: Air Maggie, taking a break from her runs....

Guy goes over the double (Thanks to Emily for the picture!)

Not shown are Cinnie and Kier... they were holding down the fort back at HQ.

Herding At Heather's

On Feb 21, a big group of MBDTC members and dogs went over to a fellow clubmember's house to test their dog's herding instinct. Everyone had a great time. Some dogs took to it like pros, others were, well, just not into it!
